33. "Outstanding Kitchen Renovation. Initially we were overwhelmed by the number of vendors in the business of doing kitchen renovations. However we found KDP though this ‘Homestars’ website when we started to look at reviews of some of the vendors. This is when KDP caught our eye, as they were a featured company that had many high reviews. Based on this discovery, we decided to give them a try and we have certainly not been disappointed. Whereas most other vendors did minimal design and simply tried to sell us cabinets, John personally came to our house and suggested an alternative layout to our kitchen that was unconventional but ultimately very rewarding. Sherry next stepped in and helped us with many of the details of the design. The strength of a renovation job ultimately lies in the quality of tradesmen who work on your project. KDP sent us outstanding people. Marcello was the general contractor in charge of preparing the kitchen shell. He and his entire crew were outstanding; they were always very polite to us, listened to all our questions, always gave us full explanations of what was happening, and accommodated some on-the-fly changes that we requested. Beyond a kitchen renovation, I would recommend him and his team to anyone considering any sort of renovation. Steve came in next to install our beautiful Beckerman cabinets. He showed himself to be a top quality craftsman who took great care and did an outstanding job of installing the cabinets. I still marvel over the precision of his mitre cuts for all the moulding and baseboards. We had [another company] counters installed and this was the only frustration point on the project. The people from [another company] were unreliable in keeping appointments, didn’t seem to know how to detail our attached kitchen table (thank goodness Steve was on-hand to take change), and although we had left very specific instructions regarding an island overhang, they cut it wrong. On top of that they also were late with delivery which caused the only significant delay on the project. We certainly cannot blame KDP for this, as we had specifically requested [another company] and the countertops where outside of KDP control. I would certainly caution anyone to be very careful dealing with [another company] in the future. Sherry was the overall designer on the project and we found it a pleasure to work with her. She always took time to hear our concerns or questions and always worked hard to resolve them very quickly. 79. “New kitchen cabinets It was with considerable trepidation that we entered upon the journey (March 2008)to remove old cabinets, install the new cabinets of our choice and wait in anticipation that the journey would get us to where we wanted to be at completion. Cabinet removal issues had us questioning our initiative. Kitchen Designers Plus (KDP) was sensitive to our concerns and completed the removal in an orderly/timely manner with minimum (if there is such a thing in this exercise)stress to ourselves. Installation was orderly, well coordinated (plumber, electrician, cabinet installer, counter top template/installation, plumber, electrician, appliance installation, etc) and profssional. Of note was the close supervision and response to our many questions by KDP staff. Nearing completion there were many fears (maybe the new refridgerator would not fit?)and final 'tweaking'(proper hieghts for cabinets so as to accommodate new cork floor installation later)that KDP handled to our satisfaction. At completion in April 2008, we were tired (we were sure KDP was tired of us) but we had arrived where we had hoped to be when the process started. Congratulations to KDP for handling a complex project in a responsive and caring manner."
